Ankang: New Charm in Qinling and Daba Mountains

A. Basic Information and Development Orientation

       Ankang city locates in the upper and middle reaches of Hanjing River and the interior of Qinling and Daba mountains. Covering an area of 23,529 km2, Ankang has a permanent resident population of 3.03 million by the end of 2013. GDP of the whole year totaled RMB 60.46 billion, fiscal revenue reached RMB 5.86 billion, and social investment in fixed assets was RMB 48.26 billion, up by 13.4%, 13.2% and 26.9% respectively.

      To create a well-off, ecologic, harmonious and civilized new city, Ankang will promote the construction of regional central city, new material production base and featured bio-resources processing base to form a transportation hub and logistics center in upper-middle reaches of Hanjiang River.

B. Investment Attraction and Specific Investment Environment

     In 2013, Ankang signed 188 investment contracts with a total investment amount of RMB 35.589 billion. The major projects of Nickel Circular Industrial Park and Selenium-enriched Food Production are under construction. And the projects of China Northwest Tianmao International Logistics Park, Huadian Shiquan 4×1 million kw power station, Guadian Xunyang 4×1 million kw power station, Shanlin Economic Park and comprehensive utilization of stone coal project are getting ready to implement in Ankang.

     Ankang is an important transportation hub connecting northwest, southwest and central areas of China. The water resource of the city is abundant, accounting for 59.5% of the total volume of Shaanxi province, thus being the national and provincial development zone of hydropower and the water source place for South-to-North Water Transfer Project. Ankang is rich in mineral resources including gold, alluvial gold, rock gold, copper and manganese. The tourism resources are unique and multiple national forest parks and national natural reserve areas are located here.
